Kumihimo Braid Technique

Kumihimo is an ancient Japanese form of gathered threads for braiding. Dating back to 7,500 BC. These threads were woven to create obi ties for kimonos, a holster for Samurai swords and harnesses for horses. I add beads to my threads when I make Kumihimo, often choosing a color and size that “speaks to me”. I find Kumihimo very relaxing, the weaving is repetitive and I like watching the braid grow. More often than not, my original idea morphs into something else that turns out more beautiful than expected! Enjoy your Kumihimo jewelry. You will love the tactile sensation from the tightly woven beads.
I support the local bead shop in Media, PA. They have a huge inventory for me to choose from when inspiration strikes. https://bluesantabeads.net/
